This website is a part of the Northern Virginia Regional Commission’s (NVRC) Share Virginia Roads campaign, a grant funded bicycle and pedestrian safety project funded by the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles Highway Safety Office using federal highway safety grant funds. NVRC has managed this project since 2006. The 2020 grant, FPS 2021-51042-21042, is directed by a technical advisory committee of local, state, and community representatives. The project includes this website, social media campaign, safety instructor training, and pedestrian safety summit.
The Northern Virginia Regional Commission (NVRC) is a regional council (government agency) of thirteen member local governments in the Northern Virginia suburbs of Washington DC. NVRC is one of 21 regional councils and planning districts in the state. According to Virginia’s Regional Cooperation Act, NVRC is a political subdivision (a government agency) within the Commonwealth. More information on NVRC can be found at www.novaregion.org.
